Obituary:
Mrs. Martha Marie Browder, 102, of Potomac Falls, VA, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Johnson Center at Falcons Landing in Potomac Falls, VA.
Martha was born on June 27, 1907 in New Athens, OH. She was a daughter of the late Samuel G. Hughes and the late Mary Dickerson Hughes. Her husband Col. Edward M. Browder, Jr., brother William Hughes, and her son, Capt. Edward H. Browder predeceased her. Mrs. Browder moved to Hollywood, California at the age of 5. She and her husband met and graduated from Hollywood High School, Hollywood, CA. Mrs. Browder furthered her education at UCLA. She started her teaching career in Brea, CA for a few years before her husband’s career as a Civil Engineer relocated them to the Panama Canal Zone for over 37 years. Mrs. Browder taught school for 11 years in Panama and was an active volunteer with the Red Cross. She lived in San Francisco for several years and then San Diego before moving to Northern Virginia in 2000.

She is survived by a son, William Marion Browder & wife Linda, Leesburg, VA; her daughter-in-law, Judith Browder of Avon, Indiana. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Stephen Browder of Cary, NC, Ann Schoemer of Brownsburg, IN, Charles Browder, and Nicholas Browder both of Greensboro, NC; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, February 17, 2010
at the Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, VA
Interment will follow at 2pm in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mrs. Browder’s memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
