Obituary:
Lt. Colonel Frank Ned Pavia, age 85, of Lansdowne, VA, died Thursday, December 24, 2009, at Arcola Health and Rehabilitation Center in Silver Spring, MD. He was born on
August 18, 1924 in Rockville Center, NY to the late Francesco Pavia and the late Filomena Castagna Pavia.

Col. Pavia graduated from U.S.M.A West Point in 1945. His diploma was conferred by General Omar Bradley. He received a Masters of Business from the University of Miami While serving his country for over 20 years he was stationed in Japan, Germany, and throughout the United States. Col. Pavia was on active duty in the Pentagon during the Civil Rights movement and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. After retiring from the military in 1965, Col. Pavia worked for Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical and later for the Commonwealth of Virginia. During his retirement he taught business subjects at Northern Virginia Community College, and was writing a memoir.

He is survived by Rosalind E. Capriotti Pavia, of Lansdowne, his wife for 25 years; his daughters: Laurie C. Pavia and Lisa A. Pavia, and his grandson, Lucas Pavia, all of Silver Spring, MD; a step-daughter: Andrea L. Abbey and her husband Dan, and a step-grand-daughter Morganne Abbey of Warrenton, VA ; his two brothers: Salvatore Pavia, of Long Island, NY and Ned Pavia, of Framington, MA, and other cousins, family and friends. Col. Pavia was preceded in death by his son, Frank Pavia, Jr. and his first wife Ramona Siebert Pavia.

Arrangements are being handled by Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, VA, where friends may call on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm and where a memorial service will follow at 4:00pm on Monday.
A Funeral service will be held at Fort Myer Old Post Chapel at 10:45 AM, Tuesday, February 23, 2010, Military Chaplain officiating.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
